Deer Lake School hosts a licensed Before and After School Care Program for Kindergarten - Grade 7 students.
Before School Care: 7-8:20 am (Mon.-Fri.)
After School Care: 3-6 pm (Mon.-Thurs.)
2:30-6 pm (Fri.)
Care is available based on a 3 day or 5 day option.

You can apply for this program by completing the 2024-2025 Before & After School Care Application Form
Once you have submitted your application, the coordinator will email the required documents. The documents will be assessed and you will receive an email confirming the spot for your child
Priority is given to those who are applying for 5 days a week.

2024 SUMMER DAY CAMPS
WEEKLY THEMES |
Week 1: July 2-5, 2024 (Tuesday through Friday ONLY. Monday is a statutory holiday) Engineers at Work!Caution: Work Zone ahead! Students will learn about different types of engineering and will engage in creative hands-on building and experiments. Students will plan, investigate, predict and make revisions to complete their engineering projects. Week 2: July 8-12, 2024 Garden AdventuresStudents will spend time in the school’s garden learning about planting and vegetable gardening. They’ll explore various kinds of plants and herbs and their health benefits, how to identify weeds growing in the garden, and the roles of pollinators and insects in plant life. Activities will also include creating garden-themed art and making fun snacks from fresh produce. Week 3: July 15-19, 2024 Community HelpersStudents will engage in a variety of activities learning about different community helpers in our City, and what they do to keep us all safe. There will be role-playing, a dramatic play and arts and crafts, too. Week 4: July 22-26, 2024 Creating with STEAMStudents’ thinking and problem-solving skills will be challenged. At the same time, they use fun concepts from Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math to find solutions to the problems presented in the stories that they will be reading. They will use the scientific method and engineering design process as they create their projects. Week 5: July 29-August 2, 2024 Expression Through the ArtsStudents’ creativity and imagination can run wild when they are given the freedom to express themselves using various art mediums such as painting, sculpting, collage and mixed media. They will also learn about art history through art games and related activities. Week 6: August 6-9, 2024 (Tuesday through Friday ONLY. Monday is a statutory holiday) The Great OutdoorsStudents will explore the outdoors by going to Deer Lake Park and will uncover the wonders of the natural world through play, exploration, games, water play and creating nature art. They will learn basic first aid and how to keep themselves and others safe while outdoors and when encountering wild animals. Week 7: August 12-16, 202 Teamwork at the OlympicsUsing the habits and characteristics of a champion, this week is a fun way to get connected and learn about team building and cooperation at the Olympics. Whether totally sporty or not so athletically inclined, kids will love this week which includes art and an opening and closing ceremony parade! |
